From May 28 to 30, 2025, the radiology community will meet for the 106th German Radiology Congress, or “RÖKO” for short, in Wiesbaden, Germany. The motto of this year's congress is ”Shaping W.I.R. – Knowledge. Innovation. Radiology“ with the overarching focus topics ”New Work“ and ”Radiology in Clinic and Practice“.
Fraunhofer MEVIS will once again be represented at this year's RÖKO with numerous contributions:
On May 28, 2025 (10:45-11:45, Terrassensaal C), Horst Hahn – Institute Director of Fraunhofer MEVIS and honorary member of the German Radiological Society – will co-host the event “Radiology and IT – Voxel by Voxel: The Art of Image Segmentation” with lectures and a panel discussion. As part of this event, MEVIS scientist Karoline Heber will give a lecture on “Automated segmentation of pulmonary arteries and veins in chest CTs”.
Fraunhofer MEVIS is represented with two contributions at the workshop “Artificial Intelligence” of the AG Information Technology (AGIT) on May 28, 2025 (14:00-18:00, Studio 1.3 A). Horst Hahn with an introductory lecture and Fraunhofer MEVIS scientist Bianca Lassen-Schmidt – Principal Researcher Pulmonary Image Analysis, AI – with the lecture “Recap Hands-on”.
On May 29, 2025 (13:00-14:00, Studio 1.1), Bianca Lassen-Schmidt will co-host the event “What does RACOON offer me?” with information on the newly awarded funding of the Network of University Medicine (NUM) over the next five years as well as a presentation of the functions of the radiological cooperation network RACOON and a presentation of current projects.
At the AGIT event “Radiology & IT – lITerary Quartet” on May 29, 2025 (16:30-18:00, Studio 1.3 A+B), the speakers will each present the most important publications of the past year for them. The aim is to present and critically discuss not only radiological applications, but above all “high impact” publications from interdisciplinary journals. One of the four papers will be presented by Horst Hahn. The event will be co-moderated by Bianca Lassen-Schmidt.
We are delighted that our employees Bianca Lassen-Schmidt, Sabrina Tölken, Horst Hahn and Markus Wenzel will receive the “Eugenie and Felix Wachsmann Innovation Award” for the “Q1 Certification Artificial Intelligence” for the development of the above-mentioned “Artificial Intelligence” workshop this year. The award ceremony will take place as part of the face-to-face event “Radiology and IT – In demand: Digital Germany – between lagging behind and frontrunner” on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 15:35 in Terrassensaal C.
