Fraunhofer MEVIS is well represented at the 23rd International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) held from October 4 to 8, 2020.

On Friday, September 25, the official start of the large-scale project EMPAIA takes place. The aim of the project is to establish a platform for AI-supported applications in image-based medical diagnostics.

Scientists from Fraunhofer MEVIS successfully participated in the Challenge on Ultrasound Beamforming with Deep Learning (CUBDL). The challenge was part of the 2020 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS) that took place in “virtual” Las Vegas from September 7-11.

We are delighted to be part of the Ars Electronica Festival 2020, with a guided tour, and a talk. Alongside our outstanding partners from Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF) the researchers are jointly presenting a unique virtual tour of the Institute’s MRI Lab, including audience engagement and conversations with artists from Marshmallow Laser Feast and scientists from Fraunhofer MEVIS.

As a pioneer in applied research, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft brings together the expertise of 23 separate Fraunhofer facilities to develop new development and production technologies for innovative cell and gene therapeutics, as well as vaccines, in the “Production for Intelligent Medicine” innovation cluster.

Fraunhofer MEVIS is well represented at the 28th Annual Meeting & Exhibition of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) virtually held from August 8 to 14, 2020.

We are delighted to announce the beginning of "STEAM Imaging III," our transdisciplinary exploration of digital medicine and the human body, jointly hosted with Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, in collaboration with the International Fraunhofer Talent School Bremen and the UCLA ArtSci Center, Los Angeles, USA.

Fraunhofer MEVIS is represented at this year's virtual CARS with six oral presentations in five scientific sessions.

For the ninth time, partners from science and industry discuss hot topics in medical technology at the Lübeck Summer Academy (LSA) on June 24, 2020. This year, regulatory affairs for medical devices, artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning (DL), and cybersecurity are in the focus of the meeting. Due to the coronavirus pandemic LSA 2020 is held online.

Fraunhofer MEVIS institute director Prof. Horst Hahn gives the opening lecture on “How artificial intelligence is changing radiology” at the opening event of the 101st German Radiology Congress, followed by a discussion round.
