Fraunhofer MEVIS researcher Dr.-Ing. Mathias Neugebauer was awarded with the Best Paper Award (1st Prize) at the 29th International Congress for Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (CARS), held from June 24 to 27 in Barcelona, Spain.

The exhibition showcases the development of computer graphics and the growth of the MEVIS Group over the last 40 years. Starting with the establishment of the Institute for Dynamic Systems in 1978, the exhibition presents institute spin-offs from the 1990s CeVis, MeVis, and MeVis Medical Solutions (MMS), as well as the adoption of MeVis Research into the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in 2009.

In Bremen on Thursday, June 4, 2015, the Fraunhofer MEVIS Advisory Board (Kuratorium) met for the seventh time.

Fraunhofer MEVIS researchers Ina Nora Kompan and Federico von Samson-Himmelstjerna received a total of three ISMRM Merit Awards and a Poster Award at the 23rd Joint Annual Meeting of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) held from May 30 to June 5 in Toronto, Canada.

Prof. Eva Quante-Brandt, Bremen’s Senator for Education and Science visited the Fraunhofer Institute for Medical Image Computing MEVIS on Wednesday, 25 March.

Fraunhofer MEVIS researcher Frank Heckel, Florian Tramnitzke and Nick Weiss have been awarded at the workshop „Bildverarbeitung für die Medizin (BVM 2015)“ which took place in Lübeck, March 15-17.

Since 1993, the Image Processing for Medicine workshop (BVM - Bildverarbeitung für die Medizin) has taken place annually and gives image processors in academics, medicine, and industry the opportunity to discuss research results and network. This year’s BVM takes place from March 15 to 17 in Lübeck, and the Fraunhofer MEVIS Project Group Image Registration will give a tutorial on the first day of the workshop.

Fraunhofer MEVIS presents itself to research and commercial partners at the 100th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) from November 30 - December 5 in Chicago, USA.

This year’s Challenge on Liver Ultrasound Tracking (CLUST) held at the conference MICCAI 2014 in Boston aimed to assess the performance of algorithms tracking liver features in 2D and 3D ultrasound sequences. Fraunhofer MEVIS contributed three uniquely different algorithms to the challenge:

Fraunhofer MEVIS researcher David Black was awarded a mobility stipend by the German Society for Computer- and Robot-Assisted Surgery (CURAC - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Computer- und Roboterassistierte Chirurgie). He received the stipend to continue his research on the application of auditory display in minimally invasive surgery.
