Science Night at Fraunhofer MEVIS as part of SBMC 2018.

Fraunhofer MEVIS hosted a Science Night under the motto "Systems Biology Meets Digital Medicine" on its premises yesterday evening. The event was part of the 7th International Conference on Systems Biology of Mammalian Cells (SBMC 2018), to be held July 4-6 at Jacobs University Bremen, chaired by Professor Tobias Preusser.

More than 100 scientists from the SBMC 2018 took advantage of the opportunity for a get-together barbecue in a relaxed atmosphere while gaining insights into the work of Fraunhofer MEVIS.

The MEVIS scientists demonstrated by means of nine projects exemplarily the importance of image processing, modeling and simulation for digital medicine and their implementation in clinical practice. The presented applications ranged from minimally invasive interventions with ultrasound, microwaves and catheters through digital pathology to the use of augmented reality methods for surgical support.
