On July 16, 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Holger Hanselka, President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, to Fraunhofer MEVIS. He was accompanied by Dr. Patrick Hoyer, Research Coordinator at Fraunhofer. Following a warm welcome by Institute Director Prof. Horst Hahn, the visit continued with a varied tour through our institute.

At the center of the visit was dialogue: In small group sessions, our researchers engaged in conversations with Prof. Hanselka and presented their work – ranging from AI tools for precise diagnostics to new standards in medical imaging. The role of our administrative team as an essential enabler of scientific work was also acknowledged.

A special moment was the presentation of our new C-arm system as well as our high-performance computing cluster for AI applications.

The open atmosphere continued during the following plenary session, where President Hanselka took ample time to respond to questions from the institute members both on-site and online. The exchange was lively, appreciative, and authentic – a clear sign of mutual interest and connection within the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
