Scientists from Fraunhofer MEVIS successfully participated in the Challenge on Ultrasound Beamforming with Deep Learning (CUBDL). The challenge was part of the 2020 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS) that took place in “virtual” Las Vegas from September 7-11.

We are delighted to be part of the Ars Electronica Festival 2020, with a guided tour, and a talk. Alongside our outstanding partners from Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF) the researchers are jointly presenting a unique virtual tour of the Institute’s MRI Lab, including audience engagement and conversations with artists from Marshmallow Laser Feast and scientists from Fraunhofer MEVIS.

We are delighted to announce the beginning of "STEAM Imaging III," our transdisciplinary exploration of digital medicine and the human body, jointly hosted with Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, in collaboration with the International Fraunhofer Talent School Bremen and the UCLA ArtSci Center, Los Angeles, USA.

For the ninth time, partners from science and industry discuss hot topics in medical technology at the Lübeck Summer Academy (LSA) on June 24, 2020. This year, regulatory affairs for medical devices, artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning (DL), and cybersecurity are in the focus of the meeting. Due to the coronavirus pandemic LSA 2020 is held online.

Fraunhofer MEVIS institute director Prof. Horst Hahn gives the opening lecture on “How artificial intelligence is changing radiology” at the opening event of the 101st German Radiology Congress, followed by a discussion round.

The U Bremen Research Alliance, a collaboration of the University and all federal and state funded non-university research institutions in Bremen and Bremerhaven, makes the research strength of the University and its non-university partners visible across the globe. The cooperation will now be further consolidated: The U Bremen Research Alliance will become a non-profit association.

The STEAM Imaging II workshops for pupils are part of an artist-in-residence program at Fraunhofer MEVIS in cooperation with the Ars Electronica Center in Linz and the International Fraunhofer Talent School Bremen. In the second edition of the program, two workshops took place, one at Fraunhofer MEVIS in Bremen on October 23-24, 2019 and one in Linz on November 14-15, 2019.

The COVID-19 disease is making a large impact on everyday life. This also applies to us at Fraunhofer MEVIS. We have urged almost all of our employees to stay at home.

Computer-aided diagnosis, artificial intelligence and navigation of vascular catheters – these are the topics Fraunhofer MEVIS is presenting at the “Medical Imaging” conference of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), which will take place in Houston, Texas, from February 15 to 20.

The conference and exhibition „Navigating the Postdigital”, which takes place from 15 to 17 January at the Applied Innovation Laboratory in Vienna, shows immersive art installations at the interface of virtuality and reality, the digital and the analog, as well as man, nature and machine.

Fraunhofer MEVIS presents its latest developments in AI-related software solutions at the 105th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) taking place at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL from December 1 to 6.

Fraunhofer MEVIS provides the software MEVIS draw for creating and editing segmentations on 3D medical images for free download. MEVIS draw supports clinicians and AI researchers in interactively annotating data such as CT or MR images.

Fraunhofer MEVIS, ifs internationale filmschule köln, and the Foundation for STEM-Entertainment-Education-Excellence (MINTEEE) organize a two-day event in Cologne, dedicated to the topic “Artificial Intelligence in Fiction and Reality."

We are opening the doors and inviting kids and their parents to visit our MRI Center at Fraunhofer MEVIS on Thursday, October 3rd. MEVIS joins the initiative “Maus Türöffner-Tag” by the WDR „Die Sendung mit der Maus” opening doors all over Germany to discover exciting and interesting facts and sites.

The artist-in-residence program, running for the second time, from October 1st until November 14th, connects digital medicine to education and arts.
