President Hanselka Visits Fraunhofer MEVIS – An Afternoon Dedicated to Dialogue

On July 16, 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Holger Hanselka, President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, to Fraunhofer MEVIS. He was accompanied by Dr. Patrick Hoyer, Research Coordinator at Fraunhofer. Following a warm welcome by Institute Director Prof. Horst Hahn, the visit continued with a varied tour through our institute.

TACTIX Brings Together International Students for Hands-On MRI Training at Fraunhofer MEVIS

Fraunhofer MEVIS hosted a three-day workshop as part of the EU-funded TACTIX project, welcoming more than 30 participants for an intensive program focused on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology. The event brought together students and researchers from Boğaziçi University (Türkiye) and Fraunhofer MEVIS (Germany), with the project also drawing on the combined expertise in teaching and research of all partners, including Amsterdam University Medical Centre (Netherlands).

Next main milestone in the TACTIX program ahead

Over the next few weeks, four senior researchers from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Türkiye, will visit Fraunhofer MEVIS. Together with the MR-team they will work on a wide range of topics from MR-monitored High-Intensity Focussed Ultrasound (HIFU) and Electroencephalogram (EEG) to MR-sequence programming using gammaSTAR, the in-house development framework for MRI pulse sequences.

Innovative Study on Early Detection of Adenomyosis

A research consortium led by University Hospital Erlangen and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin has, for the first time, systematically acquired and analyzed MRI scans of the uterus in both healthy and diseased states as part of the RACOON FADEN project. The image data were evaluated using CuraMate, a modular software platform developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Medicine MEVIS for the annotation, segmentation, and quantification of medical image features.
