Six months after the foundation stone was laid, Fraunhofer MEVIS celebrates the roofing ceremony for its new institute building on the campus of the University of Bremen on Wednesday, June 19, 2019.

Fraunhofer MEVIS hosted a Science Night under the motto "Systems Biology Meets Digital Medicine" on its premises yesterday evening.

How can we use the potential of scientific expertise and artistic creativity to make STEM-topics accessible with fun? In the field of medical technology, we are accustomed to working across disciplines. With our web-based interactive STEAM-application "Inside Insight" we teach now in a two-and-a-half hour online workshop methods of medical image processing for 12 to 14 year old students.

In cooperation with the Foundation for MINT-Entertainment-Education-Excellence (MINTEEE) we are pleased to give filmmakers exclusive insights into the future of medicine and hospitals in a one-day workshop on June 27.

In Bremen on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, the Fraunhofer MEVIS Advisory Board (Kuratorium) met for the tenth time.

From May on, visitors of the Ars Electronica Center can watch the new short film “Physicians’ Colleague, Patients’ Helper: The Cognitive Computer” in the 3D theater Deep Space 8K. The film shows how deep neural networks contribute to the evaluation of medical data and how this also changes the role of physicians and patients.

Fraunhofer MEVIS researchers Markus Wenzel and Hans Meine instructed a 1-day-course on “Deep Learning for Image Understanding” on Saturday, February 10 as part of this year‘s SPIE Medical Imaging Conference held February 10–15 in Houston, Texas.

Fraunhofer MEVIS mourns the loss of an extraordinary person and a generous supporter of science. Conrad Naber died at the age of 95 on the night of January 29th.
