New Horizons: The Future of Medical Ultrasound

Hardware, Software, Agents, and Applications

The recent years have shown tremendous advancement of medical ultrasound in terms of image quality, image resolution, device miniaturization, specific contrast agents, therapeutic approaches, and a number of microstructural imaging techniques including shearwave elastography.

This international symposium will address the future potential of ultrasound technologies and solutions for medical diagnosis and therapy and bring together leading experts in the field from Europe and abroad. A special session will offer a guided tour to the newly designed Ultrasound Center of the Charité.

Experts at a meeting for invited participants only will discuss strategic issues behind medical ultrasound. They also will set up the cornerstones of a white paper that addresses the research and development agenda for the next decade.

The symposium includes a reception and will take place in the reconstructed ruin of Charité’s former Rudolf Virchow lecture hall with its unique historic charm.

An event of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Ultraschall of the Deutsche Röntgengesellschaft e.V. (DRG) in cooperation with the Ultrasound Center of the Charité Berlin and the Fraunhofer Institute for Medical Image Computing MEVIS in Bremen.
