Jennifer Nitsch awarded with the prize for the promotion of young scientists 2012

Jennifer Nitsch was awarded by the ”Verein zur Förderung der Hochschule Bremerhaven” with the prize for the best thesis acknowledging her outstanding bachelor thesis in medical engineering at the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. The thesis was supervised jointly by Professor Richard Rascher-Friesenhausen and Bianca Lassen at Fraunhofer MEVIS.

Her work focused on the segmentation of the bladder based on CT data without contrast agent for the planning of radiation therapies. Nitsch developed a method by which you can highlight the bladder on CT data with a single mouse click and can prepare an optimized radiation therapy for cancer patients, which ensures that healthy tissue is protected from radiation.
